Previously, if a candidate wanted to get admission into Delhi University UG courses like BA, BMS, and BBA, they needed to take the DU JAT exam. But from the academic year 2022, it has been scrapped. Moving forward, DU JAT will be replaced by CUET exams.

What is DU JAT?

DU JAT was a national-level entrance exam conducted by the NTA for admission to BBA courses in colleges under Delhi University. The DU JAT exam was also needed for admission into BMS, BBE, and BA (Hons) in Business Economics programmes. 

Starting from the 2022-23 academic session, however, Delhi University has scrapped the DU JAT exam. Instead, Delhi University has adopted CUET for admission to all UG courses. 

What is the Replacement for DU JAT Exam 2023?

Until 2021, candidates needed to appear for the DU JAT entrance process for admission into 16 colleges affiliated with Delhi University. The DU JAT exam was conducted by NTA in online mode. 

With the scrapping of the DU JAT Exam 2023 and the acceptance of CUET, students can need help understanding the new process. If you are also preparing for the CUET entrance exam, the DU JAT question papers can still help. 

Application Process for DU BBA Exam or CUET

To get admission into the BBA degree programme at colleges under Delhi University, aspirants need to appear for CUET instead of the DU JAT Exam. Candidates can register for CUET 2022 online. 

Follow these steps to register for CUET:

  • Visit the CUET official website and complete the one-time registration.
  • Enter your educational details, personal details, communication details, and exam centre preferences in the application form.
  • Upload photograph and signature (Follow the prescribed format, size and dimensions).
  • Pay the application fee.

DU JAT Application Fee

  • For General/OBC/CW Category — ₹750
  • For SC/ST/PwD/ESW Category — ₹300

CUET Application Fee

  • General — ₹650
  • OBC-NCL and EWS — ₹600
  • SC/ST/PwD/Third Gender — ₹550
  • Outside India — ₹3,000

CUET Eligibility Criteria

Since the scrapping of DU JAT, the eligibility criteria for admission to BBE, BMS, and BBA (FIA) courses have been revised. The minimum qualifying score required for DU JAT has also been scrapped. Now, for the CUET, the candidates only need to pass Class 12. Other eligibility conditions, however, remain the same.

Key Points to Remember

  • Candidates that are awaiting Class 12 results can also apply.
  • To appear for the CUET exam for BBE, BMS, and BBA degree (FIA) courses, Mathematics must be a part of Class 12 core subjects.

Revised DU JAT 2022 Syllabus and Exam Pattern

Before it was dismantled, the DU JAT syllabus was divided into four sections — Quantitative Ability, General English, Business and General Awareness, Reasoning and Analytical Ability. The  CUET exam, on the other hand, has three sections — language, domain-specific subject, and General Test. The General Test section will have questions from three core sections of the DU JAT exam syllabus.

DU JAT 2022 Admit Card, Result and Counselling

Until last year, when the DU JAT exam was still in operation, the DU JAT admit card was available online and it was downloadable from the official website. Now that CUET has replaced the DU JAT, the candidates can download the CUET admit from CUET official website.

Earlier, candidates were assessed on the basis of their marks obtained in the 12th standard and their scores in the DU JAT. Now, only the CUET score will determine the candidates’ participation in the centralised counselling process for admissions. 

Can I Study BBA Without DU JAT or CUET?

There are numerous institutions in India offering BBA degree programmes. Some of them have their own admission procedure, and candidates may require to crack BBA entrance exams to get admission. Those colleges and institutions have their BBA entrance exam syllabus, which may have similarities with the CUET or DU JAT syllabus.
