The National Testing Agency or NTA will release the JEE Mains 2023 dates soon. The National Testing Agency (NTA) administers the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main Exam for admission to B.E., B.Tech, B.Arch, and B.Planning programmes. The best universities in the nation will admit the applicants who crack the JEE Main examination.

Overview of JEE Main Paper Pattern

The JEE Paper Pattern 2023 will have numerical and multiple-choice questions for the Btech paper. According to the NTA JEE exam pattern, answers to numerical questions must be precise to the point of four decimals. In contrast to multiple-choice questions, the applicants must consider and calculate their answers.

JEE Main Exam Pattern: Paper 1 (BE or B.Tech)

There will be three components in the B.Tech exam (Paper 1) of the JEE Mains 2023: Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. JEE Main Exam Paper-1 lasts 3 hours long. The time duration for the PwD candidates is 4 hours.

Each subject has two sections: Section A (multiple-choice questions) and Section B (numerical questions). Now, each subject or topic covers 20 questions in Section A, all of which are mandatory to attempt. On the other hand, Section B covers ten questions. Candidates may choose any five questions from the ten questions and respond accordingly.

JEE Main Marking Scheme: Paper 1 (BE/B.Tech) 

  1. Paper 1 carries JEE Main total marks of 300. Each accurate response receives four marks. 
  2. There is a one-mark penalty for each incorrect answer.
  3. Unattempted or left questions receive no marks. 
  4. For all 25 questions in the Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry portion, there is a possible score of 100. 
  5. There are 75 questions in total, which translates to 75 x 4 = 300 marks. 

JEE Main Exam Pattern: Paper 2 (B. Arch and B.Plan)

For B.Arch and B.Planning, Paper 2 contains a different pattern. Candidates, however, have 3 hours to complete both of these exams. There are two ways to take the B.Arch exam: online and offline. Candidates need to appear for the aptitude and math tests online, whereas the art or structure drawing tests are given offline or on paper.

  2. Each accurate response receives four marks.
  3. There is a one-mark penalty for each incorrect answer. 
  4. Unattempted or left questions earn no marks.

Paper 2A (B.Arch)

  1. Each of the two drawing questions in the drawing portion can receive up to 50 marks. The total number of points is 100.
  2. Each of the 25 questions in the Mathematics portion can receive a maximum of 4 marks. The total number of points is 100.
  3.  In the Aptitude section, each of the 50 questions receives four marks for a maximum of 200 marks.

Paper 2B (B.Plan) 

  1. Each of the 25 questions in the planning-based section receives four marks. The total number of points is 100. 
  2. Each of the 25 questions in the Mathematics part is worth four marks. The total number of points is 100. 
  3. Each of the 50 questions in the aptitude part receives four marks, for 200 total marks.
