Every year, the Maharashtra State Government conducts the Common Entrance Test, popularly known as the MHT-CET. This entrance test mainly allows admission to degree programmes from numerous fields, including engineering.
The official website of the Maharashtra State CET Cell will publish the MHT CET Exam Pattern for 2023. According to the official notification, the MHT CET Paper Pattern for 2022 remained the same compared to its previous year. The test will include questions from the Class XI and Class XII syllabi.
MH CET Exam Pattern 2023
The MHT CET 2023 exam date has not yet been made public. Students can check the status on the official website.
According to the CET paper pattern, there are two papers in the MHT CET exam: Paper 1 and Paper 2. The MH CET paper pattern is as follows:
- The PCM and PCB groups will appear for Physics and Chemistry in Paper 1. Paper 2 will contain questions on Mathematics for the PCM students and Biology for the PCB students.
- According to the announcement, the syllabus from Class 11 would receive 20% weighting, while the syllabus from Class 12 would receive 80% weighting.
Important Points for the MHT CET Paper Pattern 2023
- The MHT CET 2023 will be a three-hour computer-based test.
- The MHT CET exam marks include no negative marking.
- There will be multiple answer options in random order. Candidates must select the correct answer from the four available options.
- The MHT CET 2023 question paper is created based on the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education's course syllabus.
- Candidates need to carefully select the MH CET exam English language or any other language as their language medium while submitting their application form. Candidates will not be able to change their choice of language later.
- The CET paper for PCM subjects will be almost similar to the JEE Main examination. However, the CET paper for PCB subjects will be comparable to the NEET examination.
CET Exam Paper Pattern: Exam Mode and Duration
As mentioned above, the MHT CET 2023 will be a three-hour computer-based test. Paper 1 includes Physics and Chemistry, which will be active only for the first 90 minutes before closing automatically. Then, candidates will have 90 minutes to attempt Paper 2, which either contains Mathematics or Biology, depending on the subject of choice. The above implies that candidates would not be able to change the papers.
- Time Duration for PCM: The time to attempt the questions on Physics and Chemistry is 90 minutes. Mathematics alone lasts for 90 minutes. The Mathematics section will only be accessible after finishing the questions on Physics and Chemistry.
- Time duration for PCB: The examination time for Physics and Chemistry is 90 Minutes. The time duration of Biology alone is 90 minutes. The Biology section will only be available after the completion of Physics and Chemistry.
CET Paper Pattern: Marking Scheme for PCM
Each correct response receives one mark for the questions in Physics and Chemistry. For Mathematics, each accurate response receives two points. There will be no negative marking. The table below describes the CET marks distribution for PCM subjects.
