The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) has opened the registration process for all UG and PG programs from 1st November 2022. The last date for submission of applications is 31st December 2022. 

Note: Late registrations will be accepted until the first week of January with a late fee of ₹5000.

The NIFT exam date 2023 is announced for 5th February 2023. The institution has also released the eligibility criteria, syllabus and sample question papers for those candidates who will appear for the NIFT Entrance Exam 2023

NIFT Entrance Exam Application Form 2023: How to Apply 

1. To begin the online application procedure, create an account at the National Institute of Fashion Technology website or NIFT

Note: The Aadhar number must be linked to a mobile device.

2. Use the activation code sent to your email address and/or mobile number during the registration to activate your online application.

3. After registering, the candidate must complete and upload personal information, a photograph and signature, educational information, and supporting documents.

4. Examine the details, confirm, and pay the application fee. An online payment of ₹3,000 (₹1,500 for reserved categories) using a credit card, debit card, or net banking is required.

Eligibility for NIFT Exam: NIFT Entrance Exam 2023

Given below are the eligibility criteria for NIFT admission to the Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes at the National Institute of Fashion Technology. 

Bachelor of Design (BDes)

  • Passed the +2 level examination in the 10+2 pattern of examination from any recognised board or any public school, board, or university examination held in India or abroad that the Association of Indian Universities recognised as being similar to the 10+2 system 

OR

  • A passing grade in the Senior Secondary School Examination administered by the National Open School with a minimum of five subjects 

OR

  • At the Advanced (A) level of the General Certificate of Education (GCE) Examination (London, Cambridge, Sri Lanka), or the International Baccalaureate (IB)

Bachelor of Fashion Technology  (B.F.Tech)

  • Passed the 10+2 exam with Maths and Physics from an accredited institution. 

OR

  • Completed the General Certificate of Education (GCE) Examination (London/Cambridge Sri-Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level with Physics and Mathematics/International Baccalaureate 

OR

  • Received a passing grade in the Senior Secondary School Examination administered by the National Open School with a minimum of five subjects, including Physics and Mathematics (IB).

Age criteria for all Bachelor’s programs

  • As of August 1 of the admissions year, the candidate must not be over 24 years of age. 
  • Candidates who fall under the SC, ST or PWD categories can have the upper age restriction extended by up to 5 years.

Master’s in Fashion Management (M.F.M)

  • The applicant must have successfully completed an undergraduate degree in any field. 

OR 

  • Obtained a three-year minimum undergraduate diploma from NIFT or NID 

OR

  • Completed a three-year minimum undergraduate degree programme at NIFT or NID.

Master's in Fashion Technology (M.F.Tech)

  • The candidate must have successfully completed the NIFT’s B.F.Tech programme 

OR

  • B.E. or B.Tech. Degree from any accredited university.

Age criteria for all Master’s programs: There is no upper age limit.

NIFT Entrance Exam Syllabus & Pattern

Candidates taking the NIFT entrance exam 2023 must thoroughly review the exam format. Two sections of the NIFT entrance exam will be administered:

1. Written Exams - The Creative Ability Test (CAT) and General Ability Test (GAT) are the initial written exams the candidate takes. All programmes need the GAT examination, and candidates for the B.Des and M.Des degrees must additionally take the CAT exam. 

The CAT will be in a pen-and-paper format, whereas the GAT will be in a computer-based test (CBT) format.

2. Situation Test (for B.Des) / Group Discussion and Personal Interview (for all PG programs): The written test results (CAT and GAT) will be utilised to narrow the field of candidates.

The topics the candidate has to study for will be included in the NIFT exam syllabus. The CAT (paper-based) and GAT (computer-based) tests make up the NIFT 2023 writing examinations.

Analytical Ability and Logical Ability

This subtest measures the candidate's capacity for inference and logic from the provided material and their capacity to recognise the given problem and use logic to address its fundamental concerns.

The CAT (Creative Ability Test) examination, which is administered in a paper-based mode, is intended to gauge a candidate's capacity for observation as well as their intuitive and drawing abilities.
