What is WB JECA?

The exam for admission to the MCA program is the West Bengal Joint Entrance Exam for Computer Application or WB JECA. Every year, the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB) administers the WBJECA to applicants seeking admission to West Bengali colleges.  Candidates must take and pass the WBJECA to be considered for MCA admission in West Bengal. 

WBJECA Exam Eligibility Criteria

JECA Common Eligibility Criteria: 

  • The applicant must be a citizen of India.
  • There is no upper age limit for taking the exam.
  • A candidate may show up for the exam an unlimited number of times.

WB JECA Exam Eligibility Specification 1:

  • The applicant must possess a bachelor's degree (UGC/AICTE recognised) with a minimum duration of 3 years, except for a BBA in Mathematics at the graduate or 10+2 level.
  • For candidates in the general category, the cutoff score is 50%, while it is 45% for those in the reserved category.

WB JECA Exam Eligibility Specification 2:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Mathematics with an overall average of 60% for the general category and 45% for the SC/ST category, from an institution recognised by the UGC, or a BCA from an institution recognised by the AICTE.
  • In addition, candidates need to receive an overall grade of 60% in mathematics at the 10+2 level and 45% for SC/ST candidates.

WB JECA Exam Eligibility Specification 3: 

  • AICTE and UGC both recognise B.E., B.Tech., and BCA degrees as fulfilling Criteria 3.
  • Additionally, candidates must have a cumulative maths score of 60% (45% for SC/ST/OBC) at each level.

WB JECA Exam Eligibility Specification 4:

  • UGC-recognized B.Sc. degree in any subject with a 60% overall grade point average (45% for reserved category) and a 55% overall grade point average in mathematics.
  • Additionally, candidates must earn 60% in mathematics at each level (grades 10, 10, and 10+2).

WB JECA Exam Pattern

  • The exam pattern for WB JECA 2023 has changed. The exam will henceforth be administered as a single paper centred on fundamental computer applications rather than mathematics and aptitude. 
  • The only language of the two-hour OMR-based WB JECA test is English.
  • There are 100 multiple-choice questions, totalling 120 points.
  • The basic computer application course is the basis for the WB JECA 2023 question paper.
  • In the WB JECA, there are two categories of questions:
  • Category 1
    • Category 1 has MCQs worth one mark.
    • There are 80 questions in this category altogether.
    • There is also a negative marking for this group of questions. A quarter of a mark is subtracted for each misunderstood multiple-choice question.
  • Category 2 
    • Category 2 is made up of MCQs worth two marks.
    • 20 questions fall under this category in total.
    • There are no failing grades.

WB JECA Exam Admit Card

  • WB JECA Admit Card will be accessible for download on the official website.
  • Such admission cards would disqualify applicants from taking the JECA exam. After the exam is over, no additional admission cards will be printed.
  • Additionally, applicants are urged to carefully store their admit cards. Candidates must get in touch with the admissions office at once to fix any errors in the information on the admission card before the test.
  • Any student will not get call letters via postal mail.

Documents Required at WBJECA Exam

  • A valid original photo ID, such as a driver's licence, school or college ID card, or an Aadhar card passport, voter ID, and admit card for the 10th grade
  • A current, colour photograph the size of a passport (the same one you uploaded with your WB JECA application).

WB JECA Exam Results

The tentative release date for the WB JECA results is August. Scorecards containing the results of WB JECA will be made accessible. Candidates may access the results by visiting wbjeeb.nic.in on the official website.

  • Use your username and password to log in.
  • See and download the scorecard.
  • Create a scorecard.

The applicants will not receive a paper copy of the scorecards; they will only be available online. Candidates who participate in WB JECA will receive scorecards that detail their marks in both papers as well as their rankings. WBJEEB will also provide a general merit list following the announcement of results. Only the general merit list will be taken into account for counselling and admission, even though a separate merit list for the restricted category will also be released.

WB JECA Exam Counselling

  • Qualified candidates must show up for the JECA Counselling when the merit list is announced.
  • On the official website, a notice detailing admission, seat allocation, and counselling will be posted.
  • Applicants must show up for the counselling session in the order of their rank and merit.
  • If the applicant doesn't show up, the following qualified applicant will be given their spot.
  • No representatives on behalf of candidates will be accepted; they must attend in person.
  • Additionally, applicants should bring the required paperwork for validation.
  • After reviewing their certificates, candidates will be given seats depending on their merit and college preference.

  • A hard copy of the WB JECA 2023 Counselling Registration Form
  • WB JECA rank card original and self-attested
  • Original and self-attested copies of a Class 10 diploma or admittance card (or another form of identification that shows your date of birth).
  • Authentic and self-attested copies of the Class 10 grade report
  • Original and self-attested copies of the grade report for class 12
  • All UG passed course mark sheets must be original and self-attested copies.
  • Certificate for OBC-A, OBC-B, and PWD, where appropriate both the original and a self-attested replica
