IIM CAT 2025 Registration: Application Form Link & Step-by-Step Process

All applications must be submitted through iimcat.ac.in. The workflow consists of three broad steps: (1) New candidate registration, (2) Filling the application, and (3) Payment & final submit. Below is a clear walkthrough that matches the portal’s sequence.

Step 1: New Candidate Registration (Create Your Login)

  • Go to iimcat.ac.in and click “Register” (New Candidate).
  • Enter your name, date of birth, email ID, mobile number, and nationality.
  • Click Generate OTP. Enter the OTP sent to your registered mobile to verify.
  • On success, you’ll receive your User ID and password via registered email/SMS.

Tip: Use an active personal email/number you’ll retain through the admission cycle—these will be your primary contact channels for admit card and further communication. Only these two fields (email and phone) are locked after initial registration.

Step 2: Fill the CAT 2025 Application Form (Six Sections)

Once you log in with your User ID and password, you must carefully complete the following six sections of the application form. Ensure accuracy, as errors may lead to rejection or disqualification during the admission process.

1. Personal Details

  • Enter full name, date of birth, gender, category (General, EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, ST), and nationality exactly as they appear on official documents.
  • Provide your permanent and correspondence address with correct pin codes.
  • Enter a valid email ID and mobile number—all official communication from IIMCAT will be sent here.
  • Upload a recent passport-size photograph and scanned signature as per the prescribed size and format.
  • Candidates applying under reserved categories (SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS/PwD) must also upload valid certificates in the specified format.

Tip: Double-check spelling, capitalization, and document consistency. Even a minor mismatch between the application and official ID proofs can create issues during verification.

2. Academic Details

  • Fill in Class 10, Class 12, graduation, and higher qualification details (if applicable).
  • Information required includes: marks/CGPA, board/university name, year of passing, and subjects studied.
  • Candidates still in their final year of graduation should enter marks up to the last completed semester.
  • Convert CGPA into percentage only if the university officially provides a conversion formula. Otherwise, enter CGPA as it is.
  • Any discrepancy between details entered and documents produced during admission can lead to disqualification.

3. Work Experience (if applicable)

  • Enter details of full-time, post-graduation work experience only.
  • Provide information such as employer name, designation, start and end dates, and total duration in months.
  • Internships, part-time roles, or training are generally not considered valid work experience.
  • Ensure that supporting documents such as experience certificates or appointment letters can be furnished later.

4. Programmes

  • Select the IIMs and specific programmes (PGP, PGDM, MBA, Executive MBA, etc.) you wish to apply for.
  • There is no additional fee for choosing multiple programmes across different IIMs.
  • Some programmes may have specific eligibility criteria (like work experience for Executive MBA). Ensure you meet the requirements before applying.

5. Test City Preferences

  • Choose up to five test cities in order of preference.
  • The exam authority will try to allot your first preference, but allocation depends on availability.
  • In rare cases, candidates may be assigned a city other than their preferred choices, at the discretion of IIMCAT.
  • Keep in mind travel feasibility—choose test cities where you can comfortably reach on exam day.

6. Payment

  • Pay the applicable fee online through credit/debit card, net banking, or UPI.
    • General / EWS / NC-OBC: ₹2,600
    • SC / ST / PwD: ₹1,300
  • The application form will be considered incomplete until payment is successful.
  • After payment, download and save the payment receipt for reference.

Final Submission & Confirmation

  • Review the entire form before final submission—once submitted, only limited fields can be corrected during the correction window.
  • After successful payment, download the Application Summary PDF for your records.
  • This PDF contains all the details entered and will be required during the admission process.

Step 3: Pay the Registration Fee & Submit

Proceed to the CAT registration fee payment gateway and pay via debit/credit card, net banking, UPI or wallets as enabled on the portal. The fees for CAT 2025 registration is INR 2600 for general, EWS and NC OBC category students and INR 1300 for SC/ST and PwD candidates.

Once payment is confirmed, the system submits your form and generates an acknowledgement. Save the confirmation page and the email acknowledgement for your records.

Q. Can I fill in details today and pay later?
A. Yes. You may fill sections and return to pay on another day within the registration window. But the application counts only after successful fee payment before the deadline.

What is the CAT 2025 Exam Fee?

Category

Fee (₹)

General / EWS / NC-OBC

₹2,600

SC / ST / PwD

₹1,300

Candidates must note that the fee is non-refundable under any circumstances. If a transaction fails but the amount is debited, your bank typically reverses it. There is no separate fee for choosing multiple IIMs/programmes; the single CAT fee covers all IIM selections within the application.

Documents Required for CAT 2025 Application Form

  • Recent passport-size photograph (JPEG/JPG)
  • Scanned signature (JPEG/JPG)
  • Class 10 mark sheet/certificate
  • Class 12 mark sheet/certificate
  • Graduation mark sheet/certificate (or latest semester marks for final-year students)
  • Category certificate (SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS, if applicable)
  • PwD certificate (if applicable)
  • Work experience documents (if applicable)

Note on file specs: Follow the size/format instructions shown on the portal during upload (they can change year to year). Incorrect dimensions or blurred images are common reasons for rejection during scrutiny.

CAT Exam Registration 2025: Things to Keep in Mind (and Mistakes to Avoid)

  • Use your own email and mobile number (not a coaching center’s). Email and phone get locked early and can’t be edited later
  • Enter names and DOB exactly as per official documents. These details must match your ID and certificates; mismatches trigger verification issues.
  • Cross-check academic data (marks, CGPA conversions, years). Keep mark sheets handy to avoid transcription errors.
  • Upload clean, compliant photos/signatures. Avoid shadows, filters, red-eye, or tilted signatures; follow the portal’s pixel and file-size limits.
  • Pick five test cities wisely in realistic order of preference; allotment is subject to capacity.
  • No offline payment. Use the online gateway only; the form remains pending until fee is successfully paid.
  • Save everything: Acknowledgement, payment reference, and a PDF of your application. They’re handy during helpdesk queries and PI rounds.
  • Don’t rely on the correction window to fix core data. Only test city, photo, and signature are typically editable; academic/personal fields are not.

How to Edit CAT Application Form 2025 (Form Correction Window)

After registrations close, CAT opens a brief form correction window. Access it by logging into your dashboard on iimcat.ac.in. You can typically update only:

  • Photograph
  • Signature
  • Test city preference

Steps:

  • Log in to iimcat.ac.in with your credentials.
  • Open the Application Form in your dashboard.
  • Navigate to the relevant section(s), make changes, enter CAPTCHA, and save/submit.

Duration & fee: The correction window usually lasts 2–3 days and is free of charge. If you made an error in non-editable fields, your only option is to submit a fresh application before the main deadline and pay the fee again. Plan to get things right the first time.

CAT 2025 Admit Card

Once the admit card is released (from Nov 5), log in and download it well before exam day. It contains your reporting time, test city/centre, and session. Verify your name, photo, and signature visibility on the admit card; if anything is unclear, contact the helpdesk promptly. Carry the admit card printout and a valid photo ID on exam day.
