The JEE, or the Joint Entrance Examination, is a national-level entrance exam for admission into B.Tech courses. There are two levels of JEE - JEE Main and JEE Advanced.
Students who want to pursue a bachelor’s degree or an integrated master’s degree in engineering need to pass the JEE exam. JEE is also the gateway to dual degree programmes in participating institutions. The JEE Advanced exam is jointly conducted by NTA and seven IITs — IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras, IIT Kanpur, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Bombay, and IIT Roorkee.
Before we start, here is some rudimentary information about JEE full form and frequently asked JEE abbreviations.

- Candidates must be among the top 2,50,000 rank holders.
Second Criterion - Age Limit for JEE Advanced 2023
While JEE Mains does not have any age limit, this is not the same for JEE Advanced. For JEE Advanced 2023, the candidates should not have been born before October 1, 1997. There is a 5-year age relaxation (born on or after October 1, 1992) for candidates belonging to the SC, ST, and PwD categories.
Third Criterion - Number of Allowed Attempts for JEE Advanced 2023
A candidate can appear for the JEE Advanced exam maximum of two times in two consecutive years. As per the information shared by the IITG, applicants who did not appear for the JEE Advanced 2023/2024 can also appear for the JEE Advanced 2023.
Fourth Criterion - Number of Allowed Attempts for JEE Advanced 2023
All candidates must qualify the 12th examination in 2023 or 2024 for the first time from a recognised board. Also, candidates from the academic year 2019-20 will be eligible for JEE Advanced 2023 if the result for the same academic year was declared on or after October 15, 2020.
However, if the board has announced the results for the academic year 2019-2020 before October 15, 2020, but a particular candidate’s result was withheld, he or she will not be eligible for JEE Advanced 2023.
