The Maharashtra Masters of Computer Application Common Entrance Test (MAH MCA CET) is the entrance exam for MCA in Maharashtra, offered by various government and private universities. The Maharashtra Common Entrance Test Cell organises the exam online as a computer-based test annually.

MAH MCA CET Eligibility

  • Nationality: The candidate must be an Indian national. 
  • Qualifying Exam: The applicant must hold a three-year Bachelor's degree in Computer Application (Computer Science) or Information Technology (IT) or Engineering from any recognised university by UGC or AIU for admission via lateral entry. 
  • Minimum Marks: Candidates must secure at least 50% in the qualifying exam. Candidates from the reserved categories must secure at least 40%. However, the above criteria are only valid for Maharashtra students.
  • Subjects: Mathematics is mandatory at the 12th-grade or graduation level. Candidates already in the final year of their qualifying exam are also eligible to apply.

MCA Admission Process in Maharashtra 2023

The following are the instructions for applicants appearing for the MCA entrance exams to complete the MCA admission process in Maharashtra:

  • An application form for the MCA entrance exam will only be available online on the MCA CET official website.
  • An applicant must provide a valid email address and phone number when completing the application form to receive important updates and information from time to time.
  • Applicants must also update their scanned photograph and signature.
  • Once the applicant has completed filling out all details, they must recheck the information because no correction facility is available in case of application form issues.
  • Finally, the applicant must print several copies of the completed application form.

MAH MCA CET Exam Pattern

  • Exam Mode: The exam is an online test.
  • Type of Questions: The questions are of the MCQ variety.
  • Number of Questions: The entrance exam for MCA in Maharashtra contains 100 questions.
  • Total Marks: The MAH MCA CET has a maximum score of 200.
  • Exam Time: The entrance exam lasts 90 minutes.
  • Language of the Question Paper: The medium of language in the question paper is English.
  • Scheme of Evaluation: Candidates receive +2 points for correct answers. There is no negative marking for incorrect answers.

Mathematics & Statistics: MAH MCA CET syllabus 

  • Algebra: Fundamental operation, Expansion, Quadratic equations, Factorization, Indices, Logarithms, Arithmetic, Geometric and Harmonic Progressions, Binomial Theorem, Permutations and Combinations.
  • Co-ordinate Geometry: Rectangular Cartesian Coordinates, Distance Formulae, Equations of a Line, Mid-point, Intersections, etc., Ellipse and Hyperbola, Equations of a Circle, Pair of Straight Lines, Parabola, Simple Geometric Transformations such as Translation, Rotation, Scaling.
  • Differential Equations: Differential Equations of the First Order and their Solutions, Linear Differential Equations with Constant Coefficients, and Homogeneous Linear Differential Equations.
  • Probability & Statistics: Basic Concepts of Probability Theory, Averages, Dependent and Independent Events, Frequency Distributions, and Measures of Dispersions, Random Variable and Distribution Functions, Mathematical Expectations, Binomial, Poisson, Normal Distributions, Curve Fitting, and the Principle of Least squares, Correlation, and Regression.
  • Trigonometry: Simple Identities, Trigonometric Equations, Properties of Triangles, Solution of Triangles, Height and Distance, Inverse Function.
  • Arithmetic: Ratios and proportions, Problems with distance speed, Time-work, Percentage, etc.
