The number of questions asked from each section also varies, and the weightage given to the sections is also not equal.

IIFT Exam Sectional Timings

The IIFT exam has no sectional timings and candidates can divide the total time as per their wish. It can be quite useful as candidates can solve questions in any order and they can do the revision at the end.

However, it is also important to note that the average time per question is just above one minute. As a result, you need to be fast and accurate to solve the questions within the given time.

The absence of sectional timing helps, but it doesn’t make the exam easy.

IIFT Marking Scheme

In the IIFT exam, sections 1, 2 & 3 have different marking schemes, as opposed to section 4. All four sections, however, will have negative markings. Remember that the final score of IIFT is not the aggregate of marks obtained in the 4 sections. There is a special formula for calculating the final score.

For the exam, the section-wise marking scheme has been given in the table below.

IIFT Marking scheme - Sections 1, 2 & 3

  • 3 marks for every correct answer in the IIFT exam

  • Negative marking of 1 for every wrong answer in the IIFT exam

IIFT Marking scheme - Section 4

  • 1.5 marks for every correct answer in the GK section

  • Negative marking of 0.5 for every wrong answer
