2023 JEE Main Eligibility Criteria

Applicants who want to get into B.Tech colleges in India must clear the JEE Main exam. In addition to that, aspirants must verify the minimum age restriction for IITs. The National Testing Agency has deleted 75% of the criterion from the minimum qualifying rules this year. Applicants for the 2023 JEE Main Architecture and Planning program, on the other hand, must obtain at least 50% in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry, as well as 50% in the qualifying test aggregate.

The following are the eligibility requirements for the 2023 JEE Main examination:

  • Age Criteria: There's no upper age limit for applying to the 2023 JEE Main test. Applicants who have finished Class XII from an institution or school recognised by the Government of India are eligible to apply for JEE Main.

Also, as long as the applicant achieved over JEE Main eligibility marks in 12th Class or equivalent exams in the years 2020 or 2021, or is sitting for their board examination in the year 2023, they're eligible to sit for 2023 JEE Main. The institute to which the individual is applying may, nevertheless, have an age limit.

As a result, every candidate must examine each college's eligibility criteria and research the JEE Main eligibility requirements of the institutes they wish to attend.

  • Educational Qualification Marks for JEE Mains: Passing the 10+2 board examination or an equivalent test with at least 75% marks for general students and 65% marks for ST and SC applicants are the baseline criterion for admission to IITs, NITs, CFTIs, and IIITs. Admission to any other engineering college requires a minimum of 50%. These are the minimum marks for JEE Mains

In addition, applicants must have completed the 10+2 or equivalent test with five major courses. Aspirants for B.E./B.Tech, B. Arch, and B. Planning should have Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics as obligatory courses in Class XII (or equivalent).

The following are the 10+2 qualifying examinations recognized by the JEE Main regulating body:

  • Final board examinations for 10+2 can be certified by any recognised State/Central Board, like ISC or CBSE.
  • A two-year pre-university test conducted by any recognised university.
  • The National Institute of Open Schooling certified the final test of two-year courses from the National Defense Academy (Joint Services Wing).
  • Applicants should pass the test in all five major subjects.
  • Vocational examination for the Higher Secondary Certificate.
  • Any Indian or international university/board/school test recognised by the AIU as comparable to the 10+2 system.
  • A three-year diploma from an AICTE-approved technical institution.

JEE Main Exam: Number of Attempts

The Department of Higher Education, MHRD, delegated responsibility for administering the JEE Main to the National Testing Agency in 2019. In 2019, the National Testing Agency stated that the JEE Main would be held in two sessions (January and April).

Applicants may attempt both sessions in the same calendar year. The test committee will take into account the marks earned in the session in which they performed better. Furthermore, a candidate may sit for both the JEE Main examinations for three years in a row. Applicants may attempt the JEE Main up to three times in one academic year (two sessions in one academic year will be treated as one attempt).

JEE Main Requirements: Documents Required to Apply for JEE Main Exam

Candidates must have certain documents in order to meet the eligibility criteria for JEE Main 2023. They are as follows:

  • Identity Card: Applicants must have valid ID proof, like Aadhar Card, PAN Card, driver's licence, or a Voter ID card.
  • Educational Documents: Applicants should include documentation from their Class X or XII grades, like mark sheets and provisional certificates, while filling out the JEE Main Exam application form.
  • Signature/Photograph: Applicants should successfully submit scanned copies of both their signature and photograph within the size restrictions specified. These papers shouldn't be more than 100 KB and should not be smaller than 10 KB. Applicants should send versions of their documents in JPG or JPEG format.
  • Category Certificate: Applicants must additionally provide the "Category Certificate" for the category to which they belong (if necessary). Any authorised governing entity should validate these certifications.

Some Important Points to Remember

  • It is the candidates' obligation to double-check all critical data concerning qualifying criteria before filling out the application form.
  • Candidates must fill up their application forms with the proper information from the original papers.
  • There are no requirements for a minimum percentage of marks in class 12th in order to appear in class.
  • Applicants who do not have the JEE Mains qualification marks but still apply for JEE Main may have their applications deleted at any point of the admission process.
