PGCET (Post-Graduate Common Entrance Test) is an entrance exam conducted by the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) every year. This exam acts as a gateway exam to gain admission into flagship post-graduate courses such as MBA, MCA, M.E., M.Tech. and M.Arch in the state. 

This is an offline exam with as many as 100 MCQs, that have to be answered within 150 minutes.

Karnataka PGCET Eligibility Criteria

This exam is held for full-time and part-time programmes. Students are required to fulfil the eligibility criteria before applying for this exam.  The eligibility criteria for master’s program admission in Karnataka PGCET 2023 are as follows.

Eligibility criteria for an MBA

  • You should hold a three-year bachelor’s degree from any recognised institute.
  • The cut-off marks for the results in the bachelor’s degree examination are specified below.
    Unreserved Candidates: 50% aggregate marks.
    SC, ST and Category-I of Karnataka Candidates: 45% aggregate marks.
  • For a Part-time MBA, you are required to have a minimum of three years of work experience.

Eligibility criteria for an MCA

  • You should have a bachelor’s from a recognised university in any stream preferably computer science.
  • The cut-off marks for the results in the bachelor’s degree examination are specified below.
    Unreserved Candidates: 50% aggregate marks.
    SC, ST and Category-I of Karnataka Candidates: 45% aggregate marks.
  • For Lateral entry, you should have a bachelor’s degree with maths as a subject. You are also required to have a minimum aggregate of 50%.

Eligibility criteria for M.Tech/M.E./M. Arch

  • You are required to have a valid GATE score or a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 50%.
  • For Part-time you are required to have relevant work experience of at least three years.

Eligibility criteria for government seats

You should have studied for a minimum period of 7 years and passed the 10th and 12th standards from an educational institution that is located in Karnataka and recognised by the state government.

OR

You should have passed the qualifying examination from Karnataka. Additionally, either parent must have studied for a period of 7 years in Karnataka.

OR

Children of ex-servicemen, who had declared a location in Karnataka as their home town at the time of joining the defence services, are also eligible. Moreover, such candidates should pass the qualifying exam from a university or board that is located in India.

Note: You should note that you are not permitted to round off the aggregate score.

Karnataka PGCET Registration

The first stage of the Karnataka PGCET 2023 exam requires you to fill out the application form. You can download the exam hall ticket to appear for the exam. Your exam score will enable the counselling process for your admission. You can learn more about the PGCET registration process in the following two steps.

Step 1

You have to fill out the application form by entering some important details which include personal, academic and communication-related details. After filling out the form, you will be required to pay the application fee to further the admission process. 

You may pay the application fee through a Credit/Debit Card or Net Banking. Here are the details for the PGCET application fee for different categories:

  1. Unreserved category: Rs 650
  2. Reserved category: Rs 500

In case you need to make a correction on your application form, you will have access to a window for the same.

Step 2

You can gain access to your admit card online at kea.kar.nic.in as KEA releases the admit cards a week before the exam day. You can download the PDF file of the Karnataka PGCET hall ticket, and print the same before the exam day.

It is important to note that you would not be allowed entry if you don't carry a hard copy of the admit card.

Documents required for PGCET

Here are the documents you need for the PGCET application form:

  • Coloured photograph in digital form.
  • Valid email Id and contact number.
  • Scanned signature.
  • Scanned left thumb impression.
  • Qualifying degree.
  • Income certificate.
  • Caste certificate or any other certificate that might be required.
